Local Dates Festival Set to Open at Souq Waqif on July 25, 2026

Doha - Qatar's Ministry of Municipality has announced the launch of an annual dates festival dedicated to showcasing the country's finest rutab date varieties, with the event set to run from July 25 through August 10, 2026.

The festival will take place at the Eastern Square in Souq Waqif, one of Doha's most popular heritage and cultural destinations. Organizers say the event is designed to highlight Qatar's long-standing agricultural traditions, with a particular focus on dates, one of the country's most culturally significant crops, while also providing direct support to local farmers.

Throughout the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to browse and sample a wide range of locally grown date varieties, interact directly with the farmers who cultivate them, and gain insight into traditional farming methods that have been passed down over generations in Qatar.

According to the Ministry, the festival will operate on a set daily schedule throughout its run. From Sunday to Thursday, the event will be open to the public from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., while on Fridays and Saturdays, operating hours will be extended, running from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The initiative reflects the Ministry of Municipality's broader efforts to preserve Qatar's agricultural heritage and promote homegrown produce, offering both residents and visitors a chance to engage with the country's farming community while enjoying a taste of one of its most iconic local products.
