Arabian Peninsula Horse Show at Katara kicks off with a bang!! With the finest of Arabian horses from across the globe, as a part of the 2nd edition of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival.

Amidst a distinctive heritage atmosphere that boasts of originality and equestrianism, the second edition of the distinguished Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF 2022), being held under the generous patronage of HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, kicked off to a grand start at the Katara Esplanade on Wednesday.

KIAHF is organized by the Cultural Village Foundation -Katara in association with Qatar Equestrian Federation, Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club, and Qatar Foundation.

The festival is being held from February 2 to 12 and presents the finest of Arabian horses from across the globe. It is organised by the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, in cooperation with Qatar Equestrian Federation, Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club and Qatar Foundation.

KIAHF 2022 carries total prize money of QR17,083,500 and has the participation of 11 countries from the Arab region, Europe and USA.

The second edition will be held over a total of 11 days and includes the Arabian Peninsula Horse Show set from February 2 to 4, the Arabian Horse Auction on February 7, and the prestigious Title Show from February 9 to 12.

The pristine purebreds showcased are admired by passionate connoisseurs, horse owners and breeders, and horse lovers.   

The picturesque venue with Bedouin-style canopies by the sea provides for a striking combine at Katara Esplanade.

Fun and entertainment for families have also been organised including a large number of festival-related activities like Live Painting; Horse Arts Exhibition; Photos Exhibition; Pony ride for kids; Amiri Horse Show; Horse jigsaw puzzles; 3D painting; Fine Arts Competition; Storytelling about the legend of horses from Arabic heritage; Arabic music instrumental (street art); Arts Auction; and the launch of two new books on horses.

The opening day will see the start of the first-ever Arabian Peninsula Horse Championship for the qualifying categories for Fillies in four categories from 3.30 pm onwards. The championship will see the following: Qualifying Class; Yearling Fillies (Class 1A); Yearling Fillies (Class 1B); Fillies 2 Years Old (Class 2A); Fillies 2 Years Old (Class 2B).

Meanwhile, 239 finest purebred Arabian horses are participating in this year’s Arabian Peninsula Horse Show. This is besides the 32 horses for the Auction and 309 registered for the prestigious Title Show Championships.

KIAHF 2022 offers whopping total prize money of QR17,083,500, of which QR13,990,000 is for the Title Show Championships. This is besides the other in-kind prizes including cars and watches from Nasser Bin Khaled and Ali Bin Ali Luxury, respectively.

The Arabian Peninsula Horse Show has a total prize of QR3,093,500 and also has plenty of other in-kind prizes for various categories. There will also be special prizes for “The Legend” (Senior category) for QR3m; and a “Special Award” for the horse which has won all categories since being a Yearling for QR2m.At this year’s KIAHF, horse owners and breeders will also be able to buy the egg of top breed international mares.
