Kalba Set for More Green Spaces as New Park Projects Take Shape

Kalba, in the Emirate of Sharjah, is set to gain more green spaces and family-friendly recreational areas as a series of park and leisure projects advance across the city.

The developments form part of the wider transformation of Kalba into a more attractive place to live and visit, with authorities continuing to invest in public spaces, tourism facilities, roads and supporting infrastructure.

Among the projects approved for the city is a major public park in the Al Ghail area. Plans include shaded rest areas, barbecue spaces, sports facilities and public-service amenities, with the park intended to offer a safe, year-round destination for families and visitors.

Additional landscaping and recreation works have also been planned for neighbourhood gardens, including a rubber walking track at Sidra Women’s Garden and development work at Al Saf and Mafraq gardens.

Kalba’s recreational expansion extends beyond conventional parks. A project at Al Furaish Lake is being developed as a family leisure destination, with landscaping, mountain planting, waterfalls and a promenade where visitors will be able to walk and enjoy the surrounding scenery.

The new green spaces complement attractions already established in Kalba, including the Hanging Gardens and Al Hefaiyah Lake, which have helped strengthen the city’s reputation as a nature and leisure destination on Sharjah’s east coast.

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has said that several major projects in Kalba are scheduled for inauguration in December 2026, while stressing that development in the city will continue beyond the current programme.

The ongoing projects are expected to give residents more places for walking, exercise, picnics and family gatherings while supporting Kalba’s growing appeal to visitors seeking outdoor and nature-based experiences.

With new parks, lakeside facilities and landscaped public areas progressing alongside broader infrastructure upgrades, Kalba is steadily expanding its network of community spaces and strengthening its position as one of Sharjah’s key east coast destinations.
