Iran is ready to pursue a “fair and equitable” nuclear agreement and has never sought to develop nuclear weapons, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said following talks with Turkish leaders in Ankara.

In a post on X on Saturday, Araghchi said he reiterated during meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan that Tehran’s position remains unchanged.

“I reiterated that Iran has never sought nuclear weapons and is ready to embrace a fair and equitable nuclear deal that meets the legitimate interests of our people; this includes ensuring no nuclear weapons and guaranteeing the lifting of sanctions,” Araghchi wrote.

He said the discussions covered bilateral relations between Iran and TĂŒrkiye, as well as regional issues of mutual concern.

Araghchi added that Ankara, along with other “brotherly” countries, has offered to help promote peace and stability in the region.

Tehran, he said, is “grateful for such efforts and welcomes them,” stressing Iran’s readiness to work with regional partners to safeguard stability and shield the region from what he described as unlawful aggression.

Araghchi’s remarks came during an official visit to TĂŒrkiye on Friday, as diplomatic activity intensifies around efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and explore pathways toward renewed negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.
