SHARJAH - An Indian expatriate living in Abu Dhabi has won Dh2 million in Sharjah Islamic Bank’s (SIB) Millionaire campaign — less than two months after opening a savings account with the lender. The winner, 34-year-old Shajeer Venga, opened his account through the SIB Digital App and was selected for the grand prize in a draw held at the bank’s main branch.

A dream that came true faster than expected

For Shajeer, the win fulfilled a long-held ambition. He said he had read extensively about the SIB Millionaire campaign and always hoped to become one of its winners — but never imagined it would happen so soon after joining. “The Dh2 million prize will be life-changing,” he said, adding that the money would help him invest in his future and bring his family from India to live with him in the UAE.

Other winners in the same draw

Shajeer was not the only one celebrating. In the same draw, Emirati customer Moza Butti won a luxury BMW XM, while 40 other customers received cash prizes. The results were announced by the bank, which showcases winners across its prize categories on the Millionaire campaign’s portal.

How the campaign works

The SIB Millionaire campaign is tied to the bank’s savings accounts: customers earn one entry into the draws for every AED 10,000 they deposit, giving them a chance at grand prizes that include cash rewards and luxury vehicles. Nabil Abou Alwan, head of retail banking at Sharjah Islamic Bank, said the programme goes beyond simply encouraging saving, creating meaningful opportunities for customers to pursue their ambitions and build a brighter future for themselves and their families. He said the bank was proud to have played a role in turning Shajeer’s aspiration into reality.

What’s next

The bank said its next draw will feature two grand prizes of Dh1 million each — one reserved for UAE nationals and another open to customers of all nationalities — alongside 40 cash prizes, continuing a campaign that has repeatedly turned everyday savers into overnight millionaires.
