ICBF holds second platelet donation camp at HMC

The Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), successfully organised its second Blood Platelet Donation Camp in consecutive months at the Qatar National Blood Donation Center.

Promoting the Importance of Platelet Donation

The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the vital role of blood platelet donation and encourage more members of the Indian community to participate in this life-saving effort.

Platelets are essential for patients undergoing:

• Cancer treatment

• Organ transplants

• Major surgeries

• Treatment for blood disorders

• Recovery from traumatic injuries

As platelets have a short shelf life, regular voluntary donations are crucial to maintaining an adequate supply.

Strong Community Participation

More than 60 volunteers from different Indian states participated in the donation drive, reflecting the Indian community's commitment to humanitarian service and supporting Qatar's healthcare system.

ICBF Leadership Highlights the Initiative

ICBF President Shanavas Bava addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of conducting regular blood platelet donation camps. He appreciated the enthusiastic response from volunteers and encouraged continued community participation in future campaigns.

The camp was coordinated by Secretary Jafer Thayyil, with support from Managing Committee members Mani Bharathi, Neelambari Sushant, Amar Veer Singh, Khaja Nizamudeen, Shankar Goud, and Irfan Ansari, whose collective efforts ensured the successful organisation of the event.
