Qatar Cabinet holds Regular Weekly Meeting today
Doha, October 13 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held at its seat at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday.
Following the meeting, HE Minister of Municipality and Environment and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaei issued the following statement:
At the outset of the meeting, the cabinet expressed their appreciation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's participation via video conference in the G-20 extraordinary meeting on Afghanistan that took place yesterday in Rome, with the participation coming as a continuation of the State of Qatar's efforts to establish peace, pursue national interests and development in Afghanistan.
The cabinet praised HH the Amir's speech and its important theme of transitioning Afghanistan to a new phase of peace that realizes the aspirations of the people of Afghanistan, and sees a strengthening cooperation between the country and its region as well as other members of the international community. They also praised HH the Amir's call on the international community to adopt a practical approach towards the Afghan issue, through which words and good intentions are translated into practical steps that ensure a balance between the rights of the Afghan people to freedom and dignity and their rights to access to food, medicine and development.
Then, the Cabinet was briefed by HE Minister of Public Health on the latest developments and efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of work with the procedures and precautionary measures that have been taken in order to combat this pandemic.
Afterwards, the Cabinet considered the topics listed on its agenda as follows:
First - Approval of a draft law on real estate expropriation temporarily for public interest, and to refer it to the Shura Council.
This draft law comes in the framework of updating legislation to keep pace with the state's comprehensive urban plan. It will replace law no.13 of 1988 on the matter.
Second - Approval of a draft decision of the Minister of Commerce and Industry approving the update of a Qatari technical regulation that includes the requirements for storing car tires.
Third - Approving to provide a financial contribution to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to support the ministerial conference of education ministers on ways to combat hate speech.
Fourth - Approving:
1- A draft Memorandum of Understanding between ministries and authorities of Awqaf and Islamic affairs in the GGC in the Islamic affairs.
2- A draft agreement on mutual exemption of entry visa between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of South Korea.
3- A draft agreement amending some provisions of the framework agreement between the government of the State of Qatar and the UN Development Programme.
4- A draft first executive program for a cooperation agreement in the cultural field between the government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Republic of Costa Rica for the years 2022 and 2023.
