President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani honoured on Wednesday the Qatar national table tennis and swimming teams, in appreciation of their distinguished results in the Arab championship for teams and clubs table tennis in Jordan and the 28th Gulf Cooperation Council championship for water games that was held in Doha.
The honoring was attended by Second Vice-President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, HE Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee HE Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain, President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association, Khalil Al Mohannadi, President of the Qatar Swimming Association, Khalil Al Jaber, and members of Boards of directors of the two federations and directors of departments of the Olympic Committee.
HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani congratulated the two teams for the honorable results they achieved, and thanked the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Table Tennis Federation, the Qatar Swimming Federation, the administrative and technical bodies and the players for the great efforts exerted, stressing his Excellency the keenness of the Qatar Olympic Committee to harness all the capabilities of the It will achieve more outstanding achievements and results in future posts.
The Qatari team for table tennis ranked second in the general ranking of the combined Arab championship for teams and clubs that was held in Jordan after winning 19 medals, including 4 gold medals in the team, singles and doubles competitions, while the Qatari swimming team won the title of the youth groups in the Gulf Cooperation Council Championship The 28th Gulf Water Games that took place in Doha after winning 52 medals (30 gold, 15 silver and 7 bronze) and runner-up to the general category with 10 medals (3 gold, 6 silver and one bronze).Â
