Issues Ban On Large Truck And Buses

On November 1, 2023, the General Directorate of Traffic, in collaboration with pertinent authorities, implemented regulations controlling the movement of trucks and buses with over 25 passengers in Doha city, strictly forbidding entry without a permit.

The General Directorate of Traffic has provided a map indicating areas where entry is prohibited.

A complete restriction has been imposed on trucks and large buses, prohibiting their movement at all times from Mesaimeer and Fereej Al Ali Intersections to Umm Lekhba (Landmark) Interchange, spanning both northbound and southbound directions along February 22 Road.

The Ministry of Interior's website and the Metrash2 application streamline the process of acquiring traffic permits for trucks and buses carrying more than 25 passengers.

To obtain an exception permit from the ban on trucks and buses, the following documents are required:

  • A letter from the project management specifying the type of permit.
  • Work contract with a government body.
  • A copy of the company's registration.
  • A copy of the valid vehicle registration.

According to Article 49 of the Traffic Law, the Licensing Authority has the discretion to ban or limit the use of specific roads for all or certain types of vehicles. Appropriate traffic signs indicating these restrictions must be displayed. It is prohibited to drive or allow any vehicle on these restricted roads without written permission from the Licensing Authority.

The penalty for violation is QR 500.
