What Is Food Jutsu?
Food Jutsu is a viral TikTok editing trend where creators perform anime-style hand signs to "summon" a dish or drink through a quick-cut transition, inspired by the popular anime series Jujutsu Kaisen and Naruto. The trend has generated over 36 million TikTok posts and was named the #1 TikTok trend for June 2026 by Epidemic Sound.
The concept is straightforward yet highly entertaining: a creator performs an exaggerated hand gesture or "summoning" motion, the video cuts on the beat, and a fully prepared meal or drink magically appears where empty hands were just moments before.
How the Trend Started
In early June 2026, TikTok creator Natalie Reynolds posted a 14-second video of herself performing a summoning hand sign over her kitchen counter. On the beat drop, the camera cut. A full plate of sushi appeared where her empty palms had been a frame earlier. The clip pulled millions of views in 48 hours. Natalie Reynolds is widely credited as the original creator who made the format go viral.
The rapid explosion from a single creator to a global phenomenon took less than two weeks.
