Etihad Rail has announced that the introductory operational phase of passenger services between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah will officially begin on June 30, 2026, marking a milestone in the UAE’s transport sector. The new service will reduce travel time between the two emirates to just 1 hour and 45 minutes, offering a faster, more sustainable alternative to road travel.

The rollout will be phased, with Dubai Train Station and Al Dhaid Train Station opening on September 30, followed by new stations in Al Dhafra on December 30. The network will reach full completion with the inauguration of Sharjah Train Station on March 30, 2027, creating a seamless passenger rail corridor across the country.

Fares on the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route will start at AED55 for Comfort Class and AED120 for Premium Class, making the service accessible to a wide range of travelers. The fleet will comprise 13 modern trains, each capable of carrying up to 400 passengers, equipped with advanced amenities to ensure comfort and efficiency.

Ticket bookings will be available from June 23 through the Etihad Rail mobile application and the official website, providing customers with convenient digital channels to plan their journeys.

The Mohamed bin Zayed City Passenger Train Station in Abu Dhabi was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. During the inauguration, Sheikh Khaled toured the station’s facilities and emphasized that the project reflects the UAE’s vision for a fully integrated national transport network, supporting sustainable growth, investment, tourism, and urban development.

Future phases will include feasibility studies to expand passenger services to additional emirates, reinforcing the UAE’s ambition to establish a comprehensive rail system that links population centers, economic hubs, and tourism destinations nationwide.
