Qatari Beach Volleyball Team
The Qatari mens beach volleyball team, consisting of the duo Cherif Younes and Ahmed Tijan, qualified for the second round in the World Elite Championship after its second victory today over the Czech team composed of the duo Noe Aravena and Vicente Droguet, with a score of two games without a response. (21-14) and (21-16), in the first matches of the first group within the Brasilia round, one of the world tours organized by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
The tournament witnesses the participation of the best 16 teams under the Elite16 classification, men and women, being held from May 2 to 6.
The Qatari beach volleyball team achieved its first victory, after defeating the Dutch team, consisting of the duo: Stefan Bormans and Joric de Groot, by two halves to one, with scores of (21-17), (23-21), and (13-15).
Through its participation in world championships, the Qatari team seek to collect the largest number of classification points to qualify directly for the next Olympic Games (Paris 2024), as the team still occupy eighth place in the world rankings with (6140) points, while the Swedish team, consisting of the duo: David Ohman and Jonathan Hellwig ranked with (7940) points.
