Dubai is strengthening support for delivery riders with a network of dedicated rest facilities designed to provide relief from the heat, improve working conditions and enhance road safety across the emirate.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed in June 2026 that around 40 permanent air-conditioned rest areas for delivery bike riders were fully ready for the summer season. The facilities are located across high-demand delivery zones and form part of a wider effort to reduce fatigue-related risks while supporting the rapidly growing delivery sector.
Air-Conditioned Facilities Across Dubai
The permanent rest areas have been established in key locations including Hessa Street, Al Khawaneej, Al Barsha, Al Satwa, Oud Metha, Al Karama and Arjan, among other neighbourhoods. RTA said locations were selected using operational data and studies of areas with high demand for delivery services, in coordination with delivery companies.
Each facility provides an air-conditioned space where riders can take a break between orders. Amenities include drinking-water dispensers, mobile phone charging stations and dedicated motorcycle parking. Depending on the location, a rest area can accommodate about 10 riders at a time.
Extra Protection During the Summer
Dubai has also expanded temporary summer rest spaces for delivery motorcycle riders. In June 2026, RTA allocated 23 locations at bus and metro stations across key parts of the city, up from 15 locations in 2025.
The temporary facilities support the UAE's midday heat-stress protection measures, which restrict work under direct sunlight and in open-air areas from 12:30pm to 3:00pm between June 15 and September 15.
Among the selected locations are Gold Souq, Al Satwa, Al Jafiliya, Al Qusais and Al Karama bus stations, as well as Centrepoint, Al Furjan, DMCC, BurJuman, Ibn Battuta and e& metro stations.\
Focus on Safety and Rider Well-Being
RTA says the initiative is intended to give riders a safer and more comfortable place to recover while waiting for new orders. Reducing heat exposure and fatigue can also support safer riding and encourage compliance with traffic regulations.
The expansion comes as Dubai's delivery industry continues to grow. RTA reported that the number of delivery companies operating in the emirate had risen by around 18% compared with the previous year, reaching 2,948 companies.
Together, the permanent air-conditioned shelters and temporary summer facilities reflect Dubai's broader push to improve working conditions for delivery riders while keeping road safety and quality of life at the centre of the city's fast-growing delivery economy.
