Kinshasa: The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is facing a sharp escalation in its Ebola outbreak, with confirmed infections rising to 3,200 cases and the death toll reaching 1,405, according to updated figures from health authorities. The surge marks one of the deadliest waves since the virus re emerged in the country.

Officials say the increase reflects both new transmissions in high risk zones and improved reporting from remote areas where access has been limited due to insecurity and poor infrastructure.
