Doha Interfaith Dialogue Center Joins International Peace Conference in Malaysia

The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) is participating as a principal organizing partner in the 2026 International Conference on Peace Among Followers of Religions in Malacca, Malaysia, with the official proceedings scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 8.

The international gathering focuses on Malacca and Malaysia as a meeting point for faith, culture, diversity and harmony, with discussions aimed at strengthening cohesive and peaceful societies.

DICID is taking part as a principal organizing partner for the second consecutive year after participating in the previous edition of the conference, which was hosted in the Malaysian state of Penang in 2025.

Focus on Peace and Coexistence

The conference is designed as an international platform for exchanging expertise on promoting peace and coexistence. It will also explore how shared values can help build bridges of understanding among followers of different religions and cultures.

Participants are expected to develop recommendations that can contribute to more cohesive communities and support sustainable peace.

Qatar’s Role in Promoting Dialogue

Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Chairman of DICID’s Board, said the center’s role as a principal organizing partner reflects its commitment to expanding international partnerships and promoting dialogue among religions and cultures.

He said the effort is aligned with Qatar’s mission of encouraging dialogue and mutual understanding among peoples, adding that DICID has developed a broad international presence across Europe, the Americas and Asia.

DICID Delegation to Address Conference

The center’s delegation is headed by board member Dr. Hamed bin Abdulaziz Al Marwani, who is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on the transformative power of interfaith understanding in building communities and moving from diversity toward acceptance.

Senior researcher Dr. Sekou Marafa Toure will also participate in the academic sessions. His presentation will examine obstacles to promoting peace and harmony and highlight DICID’s role in supporting dialogue, conflict resolution and peacebuilding.

Around 150 participants, including religious leaders, government officials and academics, are expected to attend the 2026 conference. Key themes include mutual understanding among religions, peaceful coexistence, respect for diversity, acceptance of others and stronger cooperation between religious communities and civil society institutions.
