The 4th GCC Games Doha 2026 will officially open on Monday at Al Shaqab Arena, bringing together more than 1,000 athletes from across the Gulf region for one of the GCC’s biggest multi-sport events. The Games will run from May 11 to 22 and feature athletes from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman competing in 17 different sports.

The opening ceremony will be attended by senior GCC sports officials, Olympic committee representatives, and participating delegations. The event will include cultural performances and a special operetta titled “One Gulf, One Heart,” celebrating unity and shared Gulf identity.

Qatar will participate with a delegation of 300 male and female athletes competing across all events. Sports featured in the Games include athletics, handball, swimming, volleyball, boxing, karate, taekwondo, shooting, archery, equestrian, bowling, fencing, padel, billiards, snooker, table tennis, and 3x3 basketball.

Competitions will be hosted across several venues in Doha, including Aspire Dome, Hamad Aquatic Centre, Lusail Shooting Range, Qatar Bowling Center, and Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium.

The Games will also witness strong women’s participation in multiple sports, highlighting the growing role of female athletes in Gulf sports.

Doha 2026 is expected to strengthen regional sporting cooperation while showcasing Qatar’s world-class sports facilities and organizational excellence in hosting major international sporting events.
