Denmark's UAE consulate warns against fake Schengen visa agents

DUBAI, July 23 – The Danish Consulate in the United Arab Emirates has warned of a sharp increase in fraudulent Schengen visa applications, urging travelers to use only authorized channels when applying for visas.

In a public advisory, the consulate said it has identified a growing number of cases involving forged documents, fake appointments and unauthorized agents claiming to offer guaranteed visa approvals in exchange for high fees.

The mission stressed that visa applicants should submit their applications only through officially designated visa application centres and avoid intermediaries or individuals promising expedited processing or guaranteed outcomes.

The consulate also cautioned applicants against sharing personal information or making payments to unofficial websites or agents, noting that such practices could result in financial loss, identity theft or visa refusals.

Danish authorities said all Schengen visa applications are assessed individually based on the applicant's documentation and eligibility under the Schengen Visa Code. No third party can influence the outcome of an application.

The advisory comes amid increased travel demand during the summer holiday season, when fraudsters often target individuals seeking appointments for Schengen visas.

The consulate encouraged applicants to verify information through official Danish government channels and to report suspected fraud to the relevant authorities.

Travelers planning to visit Denmark or other Schengen countries are advised to begin the application process well in advance of their intended travel dates and ensure that all supporting documents are genuine and complete.
