Countries Famous for Some of the World’s Best Honey

There is no scientific ranking that can name one country as producing the “best honey”—quality depends on floral source, purity, processing, region and personal taste. But several countries are internationally renowned for distinctive premium honeys. New Zealand, for example, has strict government testing requirements for exported mānuka honey. 

1.    🇳🇿 New Zealand — Mānuka Honey
Perhaps the world's best-known premium honey. Genuine mānuka comes from nectar of the mānuka plant and is valued for its distinctive composition and extensively studied antibacterial properties. 

2.    🇾🇪 Yemen — Sidr Honey
Yemeni Sidr, particularly honey associated with Hadhramaut and Wadi Do'an, is highly prized across the Middle East for its rich flavour, aroma and traditional reputation. 

3.    🇹🇷 Türkiye — Anzer & Pine Honey
Türkiye has extraordinary honey diversity. Anzer honey comes from the flower-rich highlands of Rize, while Turkish pine honey has a characteristic dark colour, resinous aroma and woody flavour. 

4.    🇬🇷 Greece — Thyme & Pine Honey
Greece is particularly famous for aromatic thyme honey and dark pine honey, benefiting from Mediterranean vegetation and a long beekeeping tradition.
