Ashghal, the Public Works Authority, has initiated the construction of Qatar University's College of Medicine and College of Health Sciences, designed to accommodate approximately 1,470 students. Spanning 36,000 square meters, the new buildings will house classrooms, training facilities, educational and anatomical research laboratories, lecture halls, administrative spaces, student lounges, a prayer area, and an anatomical museum across four floors.

Eng. Ahmed Al-Emadi, Manager of the Educational Projects Department, confirmed that construction is underway, with the project slated for completion in early 2026. Emphasizing support for local products, around 52% of the materials, including iron, steel, electrical and mechanical tools, glass, and aluminum, are expected to be locally produced.

Eng. Ibrahim Yousef Al-Fakhro, Project Department Manager at Qatar University, highlighted the importance of modern facilities to meet current and future educational and research needs, aligning with the university's expansion in health and medical education. The Health Majors Cluster, encompassing medicine, health sciences, pharmacy, dentistry, and nursing, will see the College of Medicine and College of Health Sciences as integral components upon project completion.

Eng. Obaid Al Athba, Head of the Engineering Support Department at Ashghal, emphasized adherence to the highest local and international standards, prioritizing health and safety. Eng. Aisha Ali Al-Sada, Project Manager, detailed the features of the building, including parking spaces, lecture halls, study halls, labs, and clinical examination suites, designed to provide a comprehensive educational experience.

The project incorporates special designs catering to people with special needs, featuring guiding signs, Braille symbols, accessible restrooms, wide corridors, and ramps for easy movement. Additionally, the design adheres to sustainability standards, aiming for a 3-star rating in energy conservation and environmental preservation according to the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS). Ashghal is committed to environmental preservation throughout the project implementation period.
