Awqaf opens new mosque in the Hazm Al Markhiya area

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Mosques Department, has opened the Mothers of the Believers Mosque in the Hazm Al-Markhiya area as part of its ongoing efforts to expand mosque infrastructure and provide accessible prayer facilities in residential communities across Qatar.

The initiative supports the country’s urban development and population growth by ensuring that worshippers have access to modern and well-equipped religious facilities.

Modern Mosque Built on 544 Square Metres

The new mosque and its facilities have been constructed on a 544-square-metre plot and include a dedicated residence for the muezzin.

The mosque was designed according to modern engineering standards, creating an integrated environment that meets the needs of worshippers while maintaining the architectural character of mosques in Qatar.

Endowment Supports the House of God

The mosque was endowed by benefactor Ghanem bin Saad Al Saad Al Kuwari, highlighting the important role of endowments in supporting the construction and development of mosques.

The ministry said the contribution represents a form of continuous charity, with lasting benefits for worshippers and the wider community.

The endowment reflects the values of generosity, solidarity and community contribution that continue to play an important role in supporting religious and social development in Qatar.

Mosque Can Accommodate 144 Worshippers

The mosque, designated M.S. 1456, is intended for obligatory prayers and can accommodate 144 worshippers.

Its facilities include:

• A main prayer hall for 120 male worshippers

• A dedicated women's prayer room for 24 female worshippers

• Ablution facilities

• A minaret featuring Islamic architectural design

• A dedicated residence for the muezzin

The facilities have been designed to provide a comfortable and accessible environment for worshippers.

Supporting Qatar's Mosque Development Strategy

The opening of the mosque aligns with the objectives of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs’ 2025–2030 strategic plan, which focuses on developing mosque infrastructure, improving religious services and providing integrated worship environments.

The strategy also aims to ensure that mosque facilities keep pace with urban expansion and population growth while strengthening their role in worship, religious guidance and community service.

The project also supports the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly in the areas of human development, national identity and community values.

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs continues to implement plans to establish and develop mosques, prayer halls and residences for imams and muezzins across Qatar.

Projects are implemented according to approved engineering and technical standards to ensure quality, efficiency and long-term sustainability.

The Engineering Affairs Department oversees the construction and maintenance of mosque and imam residence projects, ensuring that facilities meet required technical specifications.

The ministry also provides a geographic mosque search service through its website, using digital maps and modern navigation systems.

The service helps worshippers locate mosques across different parts of Qatar more easily while improving access to religious facilities and enhancing community services.
