Doha, October 20, 2026 : Qatar Charity has implemented around 1,988 water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects across Pakistan during the first nine months of 2026, benefiting nearly 390,000 people and helping improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation in vulnerable communities.
According to a statement issued by Qatar Charity on Monday, the initiatives included installing hand pumps and solar-powered water pumps, alongside constructing latrines, ablution facilities and water facilities at community sites, healthcare centres and public spaces.
The organisation installed 1,593 hand pumps across Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, providing access to water for approximately 201,982 people. The installations brought water sources closer to remote communities and reduced the need for residents to travel long distances to collect water.
An additional 255 solar-powered water pumps benefited more than 138,813 people, particularly in local communities, schools and healthcare facilities. Qatar Charity also installed four deep solar-powered water pumps in desert areas of Sindh, reaching more than 2,496 people.
Sanitation efforts included 136 projects involving latrines, ablution facilities and water facilities, benefiting over 46,672 people. These initiatives aim to encourage better hygiene practices, help prevent disease and provide safer, healthier and more dignified living conditions for beneficiary communities.
