Regional leaders and senior officials gathered in Doha on Wednesday to offer their condolences following the passing of Qatar's Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, as the three-day official mourning period concluded at Lusail Palace. Leaders from across the Middle East paid their respects to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, reflecting Sheikh Hamad's lasting influence on the region and his role in shaping modern Qatar.

Among those who visited Lusail Palace were:

 

  • UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, leading a high-level delegation.

  • Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

  • Abu Dhabi Deputy Ruler Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

  • Jordan's King Abdullah II.

  • Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

  • Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Mohammed Al Alimi.

  • Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

  • Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who arrived from Tehran to personally convey condolences.

Sheikh Hamad's Lasting Legacy


Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani ruled Qatar from 1995 to 2013, before peacefully transferring power to his son, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. During his 18-year reign, he transformed Qatar into a global leader through:
