Al Wakrah and Al Arabi achieved important victories in the opening round of the Qatar Men's Basketball Cup, at the expense of Qatar SC and Al Shamal, respectively, in the first round of Group A competitions.

In the first match, Al Wakrah managed to overcome the obstacle of its rival Qatar SC with a score of (85-75) and a difference of ten points in the match that took place between them at Al Gharafa Stadium.

The two teams played a distinguished match, as Al Wakrah outperformed in the first half with a score of (48-24) by 24 points, while Qatar SC outperformed in the second half with a score of (51-39), but the overall result was in favor of Al Wakrah by ten points.

The best scorer in the match was Aaron Parks of Qatar SC with 29 points, while the best scorer for Al Wakrah was Brandon Spearman with 21 points.

In the second match, Al Arabi won a deserved victory over his rival Al Shamal with a score of (88-79) and a difference of nine points in the match that took place between them at Al Gharafa Stadium after the Al Wakra-Qatar SC match.

The best scorer in the match was Al Arabi player Billy Lavoris Shepherd, with 36 points, while the best scorer for Al Shamal was Milko Bjelica, with 32 points.

Al Wakrah topped the overall standings with two points, with a goal advantage over Al Arabi, the second-ranked with the same balance, while Al Shamal and Qatar SC ranked third and fourth, respectively, each with one point, by the end of the first round of the first group.
