Al Sadd defeated Algerian champions Mouloudia Club of Algiers (MC Alger) 2-0 at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium to win the Al-Ahrar Cup for the second consecutive year.
Al Sadd Take the Lead
After a goalless first half, Yousef Abdelrazzaq broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, giving Al Sadd a 1-0 advantage.
The Qatar Stars League champions continued to create opportunities as they looked to secure the trophy.
Al Haydos Doubles the Advantage
Hassan Al Haydos extended Al Sadd’s lead in the 74th minute, scoring the second goal to put the result beyond MC Alger's reach.
Al Sadd could have added another earlier when Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino was awarded a penalty in the 66th minute, but he was unable to convert from the spot.
Second Consecutive Al-Ahrar Cup Title
The victory marked Al Sadd’s second consecutive Al-Ahrar Cup triumph.
The club won the inaugural edition last year after defeating Moroccan side Wydad 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regular time.
Al Sadd Prepare for Title Defence
The friendly served as an important part of Al Sadd’s preparations for the 2026-27 season.
The reigning Qatar Stars League champions will begin their title defence on August 22, when they face Al Ahli at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in the opening round of the Doha Bank Stars League.
Confidence Ahead of the New Season
With another Al-Ahrar Cup secured, Al Sadd head into the new campaign with confidence as they look to defend their domestic title and build on their strong preparations.
