Air France again extends Dubai flight suspension amid Middle East tensions

Air France has again extended the suspension of its flights to and from Dubai, pushing the halt to August 18 as it points to the evolving security situation across the Near and Middle East. The French national carrier confirmed the latest adjustment on Monday, part of a run of extensions affecting several of its Gulf and Levant routes in recent weeks.

The revised schedule

Under the updated plan, the airline said flights would remain suspended as follows:

•  Dubai and Beirut — suspended until August 18, with departures from Dubai on August 19 also affected
•  Riyadh — suspended until August 14, with a departure from Riyadh on August 15 also affected.

Air France attributed the decision to the regional security picture and to restrictions affecting certain airspaces. It said any resumption would depend on an assessment of local conditions that it described as rapidly evolving, and reiterated that the safety of passengers and crew remains its highest priority.

What it means for passengers

The airline said affected customers are being contacted individually. It has also introduced commercial flexibility allowing travellers to cancel or postpone their trips free of charge even where a given flight has not been cancelled giving those with upcoming bookings room to adjust their plans. Passengers holding tickets on the affected routes are advised to check their flight status directly with the airline before travelling to the airport.

The move continues a sequence of suspensions Air France has applied to Dubai, Beirut and Riyadh as conditions in the region shift. It also mirrors steps taken by other international carriers, several of which have adjusted schedules and continue to monitor airspace across parts of the Middle East amid the ongoing tensions. The airline said it keeps the geopolitical situation in the areas it serves and overflies under continuous review to maintain flight safety and security.
