Tumoh program aims to provide the local job market with qualified teachers

Qatar University's educational program 'Tumoh', coordinated with the Ministry of Education, has been successful in recruiting qualified teachers for schools. 

The number of graduates of the Tumoh program has exceeded 1,700 since its inception in 2012, according to Ahmed Al Jusimani, Director of Teachers' Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education who appeared on Qatar TV Ramadan Themed Program "Al Ghabga".

Ghabga is a tradition where friends and families gather during Ramadan nights. It usually takes place a couple of hours after Iftar.

In his appearance, Al Jusimani said that 712 graduates of the Tumoh educational program have joined the schools operated by the Ministry in the last five years.

“The Ministry of Education and Higher Education made tremendous efforts in recruiting Qatari teachers including male and female,” said Al Jusimani.

According to him, Qatar University provides more than 300 teachers each year to the Ministry of Education.

“The Ministry is sponsoring Tumoh program. The students who joined program received monthly incentives during study and job-placement by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education after graduation,” said Al Jusimani. 

“The number of the graduates of College of Education of Qatar University reaches over 145 annually. The graduates of College of Education also receive jobs placement by the Ministry,” Al Jusimani added.

In the Tumoh program, graduates receive job placement within a week of graduation. "College of Education graduates apply through the Ministry's Employment Portal." he said. 

As soon as they complete the procedures they receive appointment letter without any delay,” He further added.

The program also aims to attract Qatari talents, as well as the children of Qataris and Qatar-born to encourage them to study in educational specialities, especially scientific disciplines, which will contribute to the development of the learning environment and meet the needs of local schools in various disciplines. 

The program is included in the government scholarship programs supervised by the Ministry of Labour.

Tumoh is part of Qatar’s efforts to invest in human resources and build national capacities that lead the educational field in the country. 

The program is part of an integrated system to upgrade the academic and professional level of teachers, which will reflect on the quality of educational outputs in schools and contribute to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The full-time program is consolidated by 120 credit hours spread over four years and the student will graduate with a bachelor degree accredited by the International Recognition Teacher Education.
