Following a deal with Shell, QatarEnergy stated it will buy a 40% operating interest in the C-10 offshore Mauritania block.
According to the provisions of the contract and subject to the usual permissions from Mauritania, the Exploration and Production Agreement for the C-10 block will grant QatarEnergy a 40% operating stake.
Shell will own a 50% ownership stake as the operator, and Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures will hold a 10% stake (SMH).
The C-10 block has a total area of about 11,500 square kilometers and is located 50 kilometers off the coast of Mauritania. There are 50 to 2,000 meters of water below the surface.
