Geminids meteor shower
Astrophile enthusiasts and inquisitive sky gazers are in for a treat as they get a unique opportunity to witness the spectacular Geminids meteor shower on December 13 and 14 at Al Kharrara, Al Wakrah. Ajith Everester, an astrophotographer and the Founder of the Everester Observatory, describes this meteor shower, originating from the Gemini constellation, as one of the most dazzling displays of shooting stars this year.
During the peak hours, the meteor shower is expected to deliver a mesmerizing show with up to 140 meteors per hour. The Geminids meteor shower is closely associated with the debris trail left by its parent asteroid, 3200 Phaethon, a celestial object classified as a 'rock comet.' This peculiar object boasts a diameter of approximately 5.8km and an elongated, irregular shape.
The public is invited to join this celestial spectacle, and the event is free of charge. Those interested can reach out to Ajith Everester or Navin Anand via WhatsApp at 5548 2045 and 3088 9582, respectively, to receive event guidelines. Don't miss out on this cosmic experience at the Everester Observatory!
