Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, representing the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Authority (SCTDA), announced at the Arabian Travel Market on Monday that the unified GCC tourist visa system will be established by the year's end by the collective efforts of regional countries. "By the end of this year, the entire system will be operational. We are diligently working, with e-services being an integral component. Our aim is to simplify processes for travellers while maintaining high-security standards. This initiative holds great promise, with anticipated positive impacts on regional economies," Al Midfa expressed during a panel discussion among regional tourism leaders.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE's Minister of Economy, disclosed that the regional tourist visas will be named GCC Grand Tours, enabling tourists to spend more than 30 days exploring the six GCC countries. "This move will enhance the convenience and affordability of travel to our region for tourists."

Al Marri emphasized the potential benefits of the initiative, stating, "Once implemented, it will showcase the diverse tourism offerings of GCC nations, enticing visitors to stay longer and consequently boosting hotel occupancy rates. This development will position the region as a premier destination for both regional and international tourists." Al Marri made these remarks following his participation in a meeting at the World Economic Forum in Riyadh on April 28 and 29.
