Ukraine Says Forces Struck Two Russian Oil Refineries in Overnight Attacks

Ukraine's military said its forces struck two Russian oil refineries during overnight attacks, reporting fires at both facilities as Kyiv continues to target infrastructure linked to Russia's energy sector.

According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the targets included the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar region and the Syzran refinery in the Samara region.

The General Staff said fires were recorded at the two sites following the attacks. The full extent of the damage was not immediately clear, and the claims could not be independently verified.

Energy Infrastructure Remains a Key Target

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Russian oil and energy facilities during the conflict, saying such operations are intended to reduce Moscow's capacity to support and finance its military campaign.

Oil refineries are strategically important because they process crude oil into fuels and other products used across civilian and industrial sectors. Strikes on such facilities can also disrupt production and supply chains.

Conflict Continues

The reported attacks come as the Russia-Ukraine war continues to involve long-range drone and missile operations against military, logistics and energy-related targets.

Neither the immediate operational impact of the latest strikes nor the scale of damage at the two refineries was independently confirmed at the time of publication.
