UDST Hosts Film Festival Promoting Inclusion On Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)

As an introduction to Global Accessibility Awareness Day, The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) organised its annual film festival in the presence of students, members of the teaching staff and other general public, focusing on the importance of accessible education by having equal access for all.

Attendees were given an opportunity to vote on their films of choice and were invited to partake in discussions around inclusion, accessibility and empowerment. It also created a space for students and faculty to talk through the importance of inclusive, equitable educational and social environments.

Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST said:

"At UDST, theory and practice are intertwined, and inclusion is a fundamental characteristic of a flourishing academic community. A festival like this recognizes the depth of diversity in our living and its accessibility, but also offers a space for dialogue and contemplation.

We highlight actual experiences and challenges to strengthen our students, faculty and staff to learn from each other, take advantage of empathy, and create a campus that values respect amongst every member of the St. Cloud State Family.”

This initiative continues the work at UDST to champion a culture of inclusion, insight and compassion while preparing its stakeholders to drive sustainable change towards accessible practices in education and our broader society. The festival underscores the University commitment to diversity, social responsibility and global citizenship while solidifying its leadership in inclusive education within Qatar and beyond.
