UAE Ministry of Defence Denies Reports of Attack on Al Menhad Air Base

The UAE Ministry of Defence has denied media reports claiming that Al Menhad Air Base was targeted by missiles, describing the reports as false and urging the public to rely only on official sources for security-related information.

The ministry issued the clarification on Monday, August 31, 2026, after reports circulated alleging that the military facility had come under missile attack. 

Ministry Says Reports Are False

In its statement, the UAE Ministry of Defence said the claims that Al Menhad Air Base had been targeted were inaccurate.

The ministry reaffirmed that the UAE Armed Forces remain on a high state of readiness to respond to any threats that may arise and to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, security and stability. 

It also called on members of the public to obtain information from official channels and to avoid circulating rumours or unverified reports. 

UAE Responds to Drone Over Territorial Waters

The clarification came shortly after the Ministry of Defence announced that the UAE Air Force had responded to an unmanned aerial vehicle detected over the country’s territorial waters while approaching from Iran.

According to the ministry, air defence systems continue to monitor and protect UAE airspace around the clock. 

The ministry again stressed that the Armed Forces remain prepared to deal with potential threats.

Heightened Regional Security Environment

The latest statements come amid heightened regional tensions and increased attention on missile, drone and maritime activity in and around the Gulf.

UAE authorities have repeatedly emphasised military preparedness and the importance of protecting citizens, residents, visitors and critical national infrastructure during periods of elevated regional risk.

The Ministry of Defence has also repeatedly urged the public to avoid spreading unverified security information, particularly during fast-moving incidents.

Authorities said that inaccurate reports can create unnecessary public concern and stressed the importance of following announcements issued through official UAE government channels.

The Ministry of Defence said the country remains fully prepared to protect its territory and national interests while maintaining security and stability.
