Trump Warns of Possible Renewed Military Action Against Iran Amid Stalemate
U.S. President Donald Trump signaled on Saturday that he could order renewed military strikes against Iran if Tehran âmisbehaves,â even as both sides continue exchanging drafts of a framework agreement aimed at ending the war.
Speaking to reporters before departing Palm Beach for Miami, President Trump said, âIf they misbehave, if they do something bad, but right now, weâll see. Itâs a possibility that could happen, certainly.â
The warning comes as Iran on Thursday submitted a 14âpoint updated proposal to Washington, setting a oneâmonth deadline for negotiations on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, lifting the U.S. naval blockade, and permanently ending the conflicts in Iran and Lebanon. According to sources briefed on the proposal, a subsequent month of talks would then focus on Iranâs nuclear program.
President Trump was briefed on the proposal by CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper, who later traveled to the region and met U.S. forces aboard the USS Tripoli in the Arabian Sea. While Trump said Friday he was not satisfied with Iranâs offer, he noted Saturday that he would review the exact wording during his flight.
Shortly afterward, Trump wrote on Truth Social that he âcanât imagine that it would be acceptable,â adding that Iran âhas not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years.â
The developments highlight the fragile state of negotiations, with Washington weighing military options even as diplomatic efforts continue.
