The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Local Organising Committee (LOC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, has introduced measures to prevent tobacco use and smoking within the stadiums during the tournament. The initiative aims to create a healthy environment for fans and participating teams.

Under this policy, the tournament will be tobacco-free, prohibiting smoking inside the stadiums. Designated smoking areas will be provided in open spaces outside the venues to accommodate those who wish to smoke.

Jassim Al Jaidah, LOC Sustainability Communication & Stakeholder Manager, emphasized the commitment to organizing a sustainable and healthy tournament. The collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health will enforce strict measures to ensure a smoke-free experience for all fans attending the matches.

Inspectors from the Ministry of Public Health will actively monitor and supervise the no-smoking policy during all matches. Additionally, the initiative includes efforts to raise fan awareness about the hazards of tobacco, with informative signs strategically placed throughout the tournament venues.

Qatar, hosting the AFC Asian Cup for the third time, following successful events in 1988 and 2011, will welcome twenty-four of the continent's top teams competing for the prestigious football title. The tournament will feature 51 matches across nine stadiums, with the final scheduled for February 10, 2024.
