July 28, 2022 - Thursday

1. Smurfs Musical Live on Stage

Eight favourite Smurfs characters including Papa Smurf, Clumsy Smurf, Brainy Smurf and the adorable Smurfette are coming to Doha. The evil wizard Gargamel and the puppeteers will accompany the tiny blue creatures in this 'Smurftastic' journey.

The story is set in Spring – Smurfs’ favourite time of the year when the characters are busy preparing for the much-awaited annual Spring Parade. But while the Smurfs make merry and sing and dance with excitement, the wicked Gargamel comes up with a plan to trick Mother Nature and bring an end to the festivities. The Smurfs Live on Stage is a tale of magical adventure that will see the Smurfs battle Gargamel and save Mother Nature whilst promoting family values and the power of a true team spirit amongst children.Little fans, mums and dads and the grandparents alike can get ready to cheer the Smurfs as they come to life on a grand stage, which brings the books to life with life size Smurf mushroom-shaped forest houses, vibrant backdrops and wonderful sing-along music.

Created in 1958 by Pierre Culliford, fondly known as Peyo, The Smurfs have come to become some of the most loved cartoon characters around the world, especially after the launch of their animated cartoon series in 1980. Produced by Hanna Barbera, the Smurfs series spanned 272 episodes, which were dubbed into 40 languages, and has enjoyed top rating in more than 100 countries. Millions of Smurfs DVDs continue to be sold in huge volumes internationally. Recently, a new milestone was achieved with the creation and release of the Smurfs 3D movies; the first 3D movie came out in 2011 and the second followed in 2013 and 2017. Smurfs once again are endearing themselves to new audiences with all new CGI Animated TV series now released globally.

2. 7th Local Dates Festival at Souq Waqif

The 7th Local Dates Festival in Qatar is set to open tomorrow at Souq Waqif and will continue until August 10, 2022.

The event is organised by the Ministry of Municipality's Department of Agricultural Affairs in cooperation with Souq Waqif Services Centre.

A wide range of local farms will showcase their produce at the festival. More than 80 farms are participating in this festival, bringing different varieties of local dates. 

Director of Souq Waqif, Mohammed Al Salem, said that a suitable venue has been selected for the festival.  The venue is fully equipped with the necessary structures, including the camp in which the festival will be held at Souq Waqif’s Al Ahmad Square.

Children Summer Pony Ride (Age Group: 3-7 Years Old)    

This activity is offered for young children riding. The activity comprises 8 riding lessons, twice a week for a duration of 4 weeks, in groups of students. Each lesson is of 30 minutes duration. 

Age: 3 – 7 Years old. 

This activity will be offered from 11 June to 11 August 2022.

Students may select available classes during registration and payment process. 

Classes will be available in 3 groups: 

Groupe 1: Saturday & Tuesday
Group 2: Sunday & Wednesday
Group 3: Monday & Thursday

Riding lessons timing for each group as follows: 3:00 PM – 3:30 PM, 3:45 PM - 4:15 PM.

Location: Longines Indoor Arena at Al Shaqab. The facility is an indoor closed and air-conditioned arena and has changing rooms & lockers.

Summer Ladies Classes (Age Group: 14 and Above)

This activity is offered for Ladies riding classes. The activity consists of 3 riding lessons given in a week in group classes. Each lesson duration is 45 minutes. 

Age: 14 years old and above. 

The activity will be given during summer.

Applicants may select available classes during payment process.

Classes will be available in 2 groups based on the days selected:

Groupe 1: Saturday & Monday & Wednesday 
Group 2: Sunday & Tuesday & Thursday

Riding lessons timing for each group as follows: 5:00 PM - 5:45 PM, 6:00 PM - 6:45 PM

Location: Indoor Arena at Equine Education Department. The facility is an indoor closed and air-conditioned arena and has changing rooms & lockers.

Al Shaqab’s 2022 Adult Summer Activity

This activity is offered for all adults riding levels interested to learn or to develop their riding skills in preparation to the new season. The activity comprises 12 riding lessons, three classes per week for a duration of 4 weeks, in groups of students. Each lesson is of 45 minutes duration. 

Age: 18 years old and above.

This activity will be offered during the Summer from 11th June to 11th August 2022.

Students may select available classes during payment process.

Classes will be available in 2 groups:

Groupe 1: Saturday & Monday & Wednesday 
Group 2: Sunday & Tuesday & Thursday
Riding lessons are scheduled morning/evening.
