Teach For Qatar Celebrates Graduation of Fifth and Sixth Batches

Under the patronage and attendance of HE Founder and Chairperson of the Teach For Qatar organization Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, the organization celebrated for the first time since its launch the graduation of its 5th and 6th batches who have successfully completed the Leadership Journey program after two years of teaching in government schools in Qatar, during a celebration held recently.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Executive Officer of Teach For Qatar Nasser Yousef Al Jaber, a number of school principals and partners of the organization, staff and honored graduates.

A total of 82 Fellows graduated - 45 from the fifth batch and 37 from the sixth batch - 73% of which have chosen to continue teaching in government schools after the completion of their two-year commitment to Teach For Qatar.

Commenting on the occasion, HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, said, "I am proud of the Fellows who have successfully completed their Leadership Journey, despite a particularly challenging year. The Teach For Qatar Fellows are the cornerstone of the Programs success and are a testament to the Programs commitment to selecting determined passionate individuals who are dedicated to positively impacting their students learning."

"The program equipped them with crucial leadership skills which helped push them through the challenges they faced in this trying period, and these skills will continue to benefit them in any sector they choose to continue to impact," HE Sheikha Hind added.

In his speech during the ceremony, Nasser Al Jaber addressed the cohort saying, "As Fellows, who have faced a global challenge no one was prepared for, and that changed the sector you worked in overnight. We continue persevere through the ongoing tribulations of the pandemic but as always we shall continue to learn from it."

Al Jaber also expressed his gratitude and thanks to the supporting partners who wholeheartedly believe in Teach For Qatars vision and mission including the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, for their continued support of our Fellows, Qatar Petroleum, and ExxonMobil Qatar. Their support has allowed Teach For Qatar to impact the lives of over 18,500 students in Qatars education system since its launch. (MORE)

Ahmed Mansour went on to speak on behalf of the fifth cohort saying, "We had always heard people speak of the nobility of teaching and its beauty. But allow me to add that the beauty and nobility of teaching is reflected in those who chose to take on this role. We very proudly took on this role and carried it out with passion and dedication".

Nada Bahzad spoke on behalf of the sixth cohort and recalling the many memories made during the Leadership Journey, a journey which encompassed hope, challenge, and many ups and downs. She reminded the Fellows of the great responsibility they have to their students and nation and reiterated that this responsibility does not end with the Leadership Journey saying, "The impact we can make is not just in the classroom, but rather is from wherever we choose to continue our journey. Our impact will not end here, nor will our ability to give back to our community; in fact, it has only just started."

The graduating Fellows had undergone Teach For Qatars training program that focused on developing leadership qualities in oneself first, and then moving to leading others, which gives the Fellow deep self-awareness that enables them not only to take responsibility for their growth as leaders, but also the ability to lead others efficiently and effectively through the practice of critical thinking and self-awareness, which will thus allow them to develop their understanding of their personal role in bringing about change in their community.
