The seasonal onset of the fierce and dry Simoom winds has commenced today and will continue for two weeks, as announced by Qatar Calendar House (QCH).

Simoom, a well-known phenomenon in the Arabian Peninsula, brings with it extremely hot and dry winds that stir up sand and dust, leading to a significant rise in temperatures. These conditions are expected to last until July 29.

The name 'Simoom' is derived from its detrimental effects on both plants and humans. The intense heat and accompanying sandstorms can cause visibility issues and pose a risk of sunstroke. As one of the region's most infamous monsoon winds, Simoom demands caution and preparedness from all those affected.
