Sara and Arshad lead Qatars Delegation at the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Paralympics
Sara Masoud and Ali Arshad led Qatar's contingent at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games at Place de la Concorde in Paris on Wednesday. They are the only two athletes representing Qatar at the Games, with Sara competing in women’s shot put and Ali participating in the 100m and 800m wheelchair races. The Qatari delegation is headed by Dr. Hassan al-Ansari, Secretary-General of the Qatar Paralympic Committee, and includes Arshad’s coach Nabil al-Musalmani, Sara’s coach Walid Maghmoul, physiotherapist Anis Boughmoura, and technical expert Mohamed Suhail. Arshad expressed his joy at carrying Qatar's flag during the ceremony, calling it a historic moment for any athlete. Sara, a silver medallist at the Rio 2016 Games, thanked the officials of the Qatari Federation for Special Needs for choosing her to carry the flag, and vowed to give her best to win another medal for Qatar.
