The Qatari national team will meet Syrian counterparts on Saturday, in their first match in the 12th edition of the Jordan International Championship "King Abdullah II International Cup", which will be held over three days.
The match will be held at Prince Hamzah Hall in the capital Amman at 6 pm, followed by a match between the Jordanian national team (host) and its Palestinian counterpart at 8 pm, as part of the first round of the championship.
The championship matches will continue with the second round the day on Sunday, where Qatar will meet Palestine at 6 pm, followed by a match between Jordan and Syria at 8 pm, and the championship matches will conclude with the third round next Monday with a match between Syria and Palestine at 6 pm, followed by a match between Qatar and Jordan at 8 pm.
Earlier Friday, the Qatari national team delegation left for the Jordanian capital, Amman, in preparation for the tournament, and will head from Jordan to India to play its first match in the second window of the Asian qualifiers for the Asian Cup finals scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia in 2025.
Team Qatar are participating in the King Abdullah II International Cup, which will be held in a single-stage split league system, as a preparatory station before playing the matches against India and Iran on Nov. 21 and 25, in the second window of the qualifiers for the Asian Cup finals next year.
The team will meet India in Group Five on Thursday, Nov. 21, before playing against Iran in Doha on November 25 at Al Gharafa Hall.
This is the fifth participation of the Qatari national team in the King Abdullah II Cup, which was launched in 2002.
This tournament will be the first test for Turkish coach Hakan Demir, who recently took over the task of training the Qatari national team, which is ranked third in its group in the Asian qualifiers.
