Qatari Diar and Qatar Olympic Committee Sign Agreement to Boost Sports and Community Initiatives

Qatari Diar and Qatar Olympic Committee

Qatari Diar has signed a new cooperation agreement with the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) aimed at expanding sports participation, supporting community initiatives and encouraging people across Qatar to adopt healthier and more active lifestyles.

The agreement was signed in Doha by Sheikh Hamad Bin Talal Al-Thani, CEO of Qatari Diar, and Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee.

Joint Sports Events and Community Programmes

Under the agreement, Qatari Diar and QOC will work together to organise and implement a range of:

•    Sports events
•    Championships
•    Community activities
•    Health-focused initiatives
•    Programmes encouraging greater participation in sport

The partnership is intended to make sport more accessible to members of the community while promoting physical activity as an important part of everyday life.

Qatari Diar Facilities to Support Events

A key part of the agreement involves making use of spaces and facilities owned by Qatari Diar for sports and community activities.

Qatari Diar will also provide logistical support required for the successful organisation and delivery of events covered by the partnership.

The move could allow sporting programmes to reach wider audiences by using prominent public and community spaces associated with Qatari Diar developments.

Expertise and Technical Support to Be Shared

The two organisations will also exchange expertise whenever new sporting initiatives are launched.

This cooperation may include:

•    Professional consultation
•    Technical assistance
•    Event-related support services
•    Organisational expertise
•    Knowledge sharing between both parties

The aim is to strengthen the planning and delivery of sports programmes while ensuring that joint initiatives can be implemented effectively and sustainably.

Media and Marketing Cooperation

The agreement also covers cooperation in media, marketing and promotional activities related to joint projects and events.

Both organisations will be able to make use of available media and advertising resources, including screens and promotional spaces owned by Qatari Diar.

The cooperation will cover activities both inside Qatar and internationally, helping strengthen the visibility of joint sporting initiatives.

Qatari Diar: Sport Is Part of Quality of Life

Sheikh Hamad Bin Talal Al-Thani said the partnership reflects Qatari Diar’s commitment to expanding its contribution to the community.

He said supporting sport forms part of wider national efforts to make physical activity a fundamental element in improving quality of life.

The agreement also complements Qatari Diar’s broader community engagement. Earlier in August, the company signed a strategic sponsorship agreement with Lusail Sports Club, saying the partnership supported youth empowerment and the development of a sustainable sports ecosystem.

QOC Seeks Sustainable National Partnerships

QOC Secretary General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain described the agreement as another step toward strengthening cooperation between the Olympic committee and national institutions.

He said QOC aims to develop effective and sustainable partnerships capable of expanding the reach of sports programmes while strengthening the positive role that sport plays within society.

Al Buenain also expressed hope that the partnership would become a model for productive cooperation between national organisations and contribute to strengthening Qatar’s sports sector and its international sporting position.

Supporting a More Active Community

The partnership reflects Qatar’s wider emphasis on promoting sport, wellness and community participation.

By combining QOC’s sporting expertise with Qatari Diar’s facilities, logistical capabilities and media resources, the two organisations aim to create more opportunities for residents to participate in organised physical activity.

The initiative also demonstrates how collaboration between major national institutions can help integrate sport more closely into communities and public spaces.
