Qatar's Import Unit Index Value (IUIV) in 2022's Q2 reached to 102.09 points showing a decrease of 1.14% from Q1 and 0.29% from the same time last year.
The index released by the Planning and Statistics Authority comprises 10 main groups based on the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC4).
A Q-o-Q analysis showed the index seeing a decline in four groups-- "Machinery and transport equipment" by 3.37% followed by "Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials" by 2.67%, then "Animal and Vegetable Oils, fats and waxes" by 1.96% and "Food and live animals" by 0.41%.
The same analysis revealed an increase in groups of "Beverages and tobacco" by 2.84% followed by "Manufactured goods classified chiefly by material" by 2.44%, then "Miscellaneous manufactured articles" by 0.58%,"Chemicals and related products" by 0.46%, "Crude materials, inedible, except fuels" by 0.28%.
"Commodities and transactions not classified elsewhere in SITC" saw no change according to the analysis.
The Y-o-Y decrease in the import unit index has been attributed to a decline in five groups as follows: "Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials" by 8.13%, "Crude materials, inedible, except fuels" by 3.8%, "Animal and Vegetable Oils, fats and waxes" by 3.4%, "Food and live animals" by 1.19% and "Machinery and transport equipment" by 0.96%.
A Y-o-Y increase has been recorded in "Beverages and tobacco" by 4.61%, Chemicals and Related Products by 2.37%, "Miscellaneous manufactured articles" by 1.4%, "Manufactured goods classified chiefly by material" by 0.96% and "Commodities and transactions not classified elsewhere in SITC" by 0.15%.
