Qatar's Healthcare sector promotes public to make the correct choice for Children's Medical Care

MOPH, HMC, PHCC, Sidra Medicine and QRCS are highlighting their commitment to providing world-class medical services for children

As part of the ongoing 'Where For Your Care?' public healthcare sector campaign in Qatar, the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), Sidra Medicine, and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) are emphasizing their dedication to providing top-notch medical services for children.

Ensuring specialized, age-appropriate care for children in emergency and urgent situations is crucial within Qatar's public healthcare system. HMC, PHCC, and Sidra Medicine play leading roles in delivering these services across the country.

HMC, alongside its Ambulance Service for life-threatening emergencies, operates four Pediatric Emergency Centers (PECs) for children up to the age of 14 with non-life-threatening emergencies. In 2023, these centers treated nearly 700,000 children, delivering effective emergency care in a suitable environment. HMC also runs a 24/7 Pediatric Emergency Center Hotline, staffed by qualified nurses, providing immediate medical guidance and advice to parents unsure about the urgency of a situation.

Sidra Medicine provides a public Pediatric Emergency Department available 24/7, treating children up to the age of 18 with severe injuries or illnesses. Additionally, a private and chargeable Urgent Care Clinic is open daily for children up to 18 years old with no prior appointment.

PHCC operates five Pediatric Urgent Care Centers across Qatar, available 24/7 with no appointment required. These centers, led by specialist doctors and nurses, offer prompt attention to children with illnesses or injuries that do not necessitate a visit to the emergency department.

To ensure children receive the highest standard of medical care from dedicated specialists when needed, the campaign advises the community on appropriate actions for different situations, such as calling 999 for life-threatening emergencies and directing parents to specific healthcare centers based on the nature and urgency of the child's condition.
