Qatar's Fares Ibrahim will start on Friday his 2024 IWF World Weightlifting Championships campaign in the 102 kg.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics gold medalist revved up under the supervision of his coach Ibrahim Hassouna for the event that runs from December 6-15 in Bahrain.
The sport's second-biggest event this year after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Championship features 473 athletes from 92 countries, including 227 females and 246 males.
Women will be competing in the classes of 45kg, 49kg, 55kg, 59kg, 64kg, 71kg, 76kg, 81kg, 87kg and +87kg. The weight categories contested for men will be 55kg, 61kg, 67kg, 73kg, 81kg, 89kg, 96kg, 102kg, 109kg, and +109kg.
