Qatar's aviation industry experiences a positive surge with a notable increase in momentum during December 2023.

According to the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), there has been a noteworthy increase in flight activities, air passengers, and air cargo and mail. In December 2023, aircraft movement recorded a 3.2 percent rise compared to the same month in 2022, with 23,589 flight movements reported. Concurrently, the number of air passengers surged by 19.7 percent, totaling 4.3 million individuals arriving in the country.

Similarly, the air cargo and mail sector saw a substantial increase of 18.6 percent, reaching 216,431 tonnes in December 2023, compared to the previous year.

In November 2023, there was a 7 percent increase in flight movements, and passenger numbers rose by 23.2 percent, with 3.9 million air travelers recorded.

Throughout 2023, Qatar's aviation sector displayed positive growth, witnessing significant increases in flight activities, air passengers, and air cargo and mail. The expansion of Hamad International Airport has solidified Qatar's position as a global hub, connecting continents such as Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa.

The airport's state-of-the-art facilities and excellent services have attracted numerous airlines worldwide, leading to the addition of 44 airlines by the end of 2023, offering direct flights from various corners of the globe. 

The QCAA anticipates a continued influx of travelers, noting a 26 percent increase with close to 45 million visitors in 2023 compared to 2022. These upward trends in aircraft movement and passenger numbers signal a positive economic revival and affirm Qatar's status as a thriving tourist destination, facilitating global connectivity to and from the country.
