DOHA: Qatari students have earned eight honorary certificates at the 40th World Championship for Mathematical and Logical Games, held in Milan, Italy, marking a strong achievement for Qatar in an international scientific competition.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education said the result reflects the students’ ability to compete at an international level and highlights the country’s continued efforts to promote excellence in mathematics and logical thinking.
Qatar Students Deliver Strong International Performance
The 2026 championship brought together 595 students from 23 countries, with Qatar participating for the second time.
The achievement of eight honorary certificates highlights the progress made by Qatari students and their growing participation in international academic competitions.
Intensive Preparation Supported Students
According to the Ministry, the students underwent a comprehensive preparation programme before travelling to Milan.
The process began with screening tests conducted in public and private schools, followed by intensive training sessions led by local and international trainers.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of mathematics mentors and the Educational Guidance Department within the Educational Affairs Sector.
Focus on Mathematics and Logical Thinking
During their stay in Milan, the Qatari delegation participated in additional preparation and training sessions focused on solving mathematical and logical problems.
The sessions also covered different strategies and critical-thinking techniques, helping students strengthen their problem-solving abilities and prepare for the demands of the competition.
The Ministry said the training contributed to the students’ readiness, strong performance and discipline throughout the championship.
Supporting Talented Students
The achievement reflects the ongoing efforts of Qatar’s Educational Affairs Sector to identify and support talented students while developing their abilities in mathematics and logic.
These initiatives are also aimed at preparing students for major international competitions and strengthening Qatar’s position in scientific and academic excellence.
Qatar Showcases Its Culture in Milan
Alongside the competition, the Qatari delegation organised an interactive event highlighting Qatar’s culture and national identity.
The event featured activities and logical games inspired by Qatari heritage, as well as models representing prominent landmarks across the country.
Students and supervisors from participating countries took part in the activities and praised the organisation and content of the event.
Promoting Cultural Exchange
The cultural event provided an opportunity for interaction and cultural exchange among participants from different countries.
It also allowed the Qatari delegation to showcase the country’s heritage and identity while strengthening connections with students and educators attending the international championship.
