Qatar to have 80,000 hotel rooms ready for World Cup

Qatar’s leading hospitality organisation said, Over 80,000 hotel and cruise ship rooms will be available to host fans and visitors during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

“Qatar will have almost 60,000 hotel rooms ready much before the start of 2022 FIFA tournament. Besides this, up to 20,000 rooms in cruise ships will be available throughout the tournament. It will cover the minimum requirement of 80,000 rooms for the mega sporting event. All the hotel rooms will be delivered between 2019 and 2021,” Katara Hospitality CEO Hamad Abdulla al Mulla said,  reported Qatar Tribune.

Work on all of Katara Hospitality lodging and resort ventures are going according to plan, he said including that some of the projects like the iconic Katara Towers development in Lusail Marina District are relied upon to be conveyed in front of the timetable. 

He added,“If you go to Lusail, you will find 12,000 to 15000 hotel rooms being constructed. All these rooms will be delivered by the end of 2021.”

Mulla also revealed that Katara Hospitality will soon announce a major project to build a five-star project in a prime locality of Qatar.

To be worked as a major part of Katara Hospitality's five-year plan, he said, the five-star hotel will be prepared before the 2022 FIFA World Cup. 

Two of Katara Hospitality's mega projects Salwa Resort and Al Messila will be launched before the current year's over or early next year, he said.

Other than propelling these extravagance ventures, Mulla stated, the organization is taking a gander at securing two, three and four-star inns around the world. 

Revealing the organization's intend to build the offer of spending lodgings in its portfolio,

Mulla said, “We have a plan. We are going to create our own brand of budget hotels. We will launch the brand soon to the lucrative market of budget hotels worldwide.”

He said, “You go to Asia, Europe, America or Africa, everywhere budget hotels are in high demand. They also give better returns than luxury hotels.”

“We have already entered into talks to acquire or open such hotels in Sri Lanka, India and Thailand. We might invest in Sri Lanka and Thailand soon,” he added. 

Discussing the up and coming undertakings in the worldwide market, Mulla said Raffles Singapore is good to go to open in the main quarter of 2019 after the finishing of stage three of the rebuilding of the leader property named after the organizer of present day Singapore. 

Renovations of most of our hotels and resorts worldwide will likewise be over by 2020, he said.
