Qatar humanitarian aid Lebanon

In a part of its endeavors to give urgent humanitarian assistance to those affected and support communities impacted, particularly during times of crisis and humanitarian emergencies, the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), in coordination with its partners: Qatar Charity and the Qatar Red Crescent Society, on Sunday provided a new aid package for displaced people in Sidon city in southern Lebanon.

The 500 relief kits were distributed to displaced families in Sidon as part of a wider program targeting 40,500 families. This includes an earlier batch that benefitted 750 families in shelter centers in Beirut.

Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Haneen Sayed told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that Qatari assistance to Lebanon is part of the efforts to support displaced persons, especially those who were unable to stay in shelter centers, amid the continued Israeli aggression against Lebanon.

She highlighted the importance of this assistance at a time when the Lebanese government is seeking to extend support to those displaced people beyond official shelters.
The Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs praised the Qatari relief that arrived at Beirut and Sidon, stressing that the Lebanese government is conducting continuous efforts to help displaced people through integrated inter-ministerial action and coordination with the international community.

For his part, the manager of Qatar Charity office in Lebanon Mohammad Zahra has revealed that this is the second batch of aid provided jointly by QFFD and Qatar charity.
The first batch was distributed on Monday and has helped 750 families across nine schools used as shelters in Beirut, he added.

The manager of the charity’s Lebanon office reported that around 1,000 other relief kits were to be distributed on Tuesday in coordination with Sidon municipality to displaced families that did not reside in shelter centers.

The aid consists of mattresses, blankets and hygiene kits and food baskets, Zahra said, noting that the aim is to reach as many displaced families as possible amid the difficult living conditions in Gaza this time because of the ongoing Israeli war against it.
