Qatar has made another important move to cement its status as an international technology and innovation hub by holding the annual strategic meeting of the Permanent Web Summit Organising Committee in Doha. The meeting, which was organised by the Government Communications Office (GCO), came as plans for Web Summit Qatar's fourth edition were agreed upon to take place from 31 January to 3 February in 2027.
The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, director of the Government Communications Office and chairman of the permanent Web Summit Organising Committee. They were joined by representatives from a number of important government ministries, officials from Visit Qatar, Invest Qatar and the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), representatives of national carrier Qatar Airways and Paddy Cosgrave, Founder and CEO at Web Summit who outlined the future growth possibilities for the event as well as its long-lasting benefits.
Web Summit Qatar Continues to Drive Innovation
The committee reviewed the impressive achievements of previous editions, highlighting how Web Summit Qatar has become a leading platform for entrepreneurship, investment, and technological innovation.
Key achievements include:

69 startups from the Startup Programme have collectively raised over USD 205 million since the 2025 edition.

More than 300 companies registered with the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) during Web Summit Qatar 2026.

QFC registrations increased by 57% year-on-year in the first quarter.

Qatar achieved its highest-ever ranking in the StartupBlink Global Startup Ecosystem Index.
Priorities for Web Summit Qatar 2027
The committee kept on identifying its priorities in the latest version, and plans to triple new international markets and scale up opportunities for startups & entrepreneurships based on previous successes.

Enhancing and strengthening the digital economy and innovation eco-system of Qatar.

Leaders Highlight Qatar's Growing Tech Ecosystem
Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani said that Web Summit Qatar now serves as a key global nexus for entrepreneurship, investors, global tech leaders all while being supportive of Qatar's digital economy. Preparations for the 2027 edition, he added, will leverage three years of momentum that has built up.
Now in a bigger venue, Irish entrepreneur Paddy Cosgrave, the founder and CEO of Web Summit, has acknowledged an "ever-closer partnership" with Doha — as evidenced by growing interest from abroad for each edition. He assured that the 2027 summit would gather the international tech community in Doha.
Doha Prepares for Web Summit Qatar 2027
Web Summit Qatar 2027 is scheduled from 31 January to 3 February 2027 and will hold entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and technology leaders around the world. As a result of ongoing collaboration between the Permanent Web Summit Organising Committee and its co-organiser, Web Summit, the event seeks to retain past accomplishments while creating new opportunities for innovative activity, investment and international cooperation.
