Qatar Beach
The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar is developing two major beaches for the public in two prime locations in Doha.
The two beaches are Ras Bu Abboud recreational beach close to Ras Abu Aboud Stadium and West Bay North Beach, which are part of several other recreational beaches the authorities are planning across the country and will be open soon, Projects Manager at the Supervisory Committee Jassim Abdulrahman Fakhroo told Qatar TV.
Ras Bu Aboud Beach will be a tourist and family destination as it is located in the heart of the city and close to the stadium.
The West Bay North Beach project is located 10 minutes from West Bay Metro Station and is close to a number of leading shopping outlets, parks and hotels.
The authorities have also said six beaches will be delivered for hotels in West Bay to promote tourism.
Fakroo said his department is developing central Doha by reviving some internal roads, key places and residential which will be completed before the World Cup.
“The project is part of a broader plan to provide recreation to change the concept of Doha Down Town which will host visitors in an eco-friendly environment,” Fakhroo said.
There is a focus on changing the concept of day-to-day life to adopt eco-friendly practices.
“We have excellent places but they were not connected. Now we are working to connect the places in Doha with networks for cyclists and pedestrians,” said Fakhroo.
