Bin Durham building collapse
The Court of First Instance in Qatar has issued a verdict regarding the accused individuals involved in the maintenance of a building in the Bin Durham area (Mansoura) that collapsed on March 22, 2023.
According to a press statement by the Public Prosecution, the court sentenced the Director of the contracting agency responsible for the maintenance to 5 years in prison. Additionally, the Director of the company conducting the maintenance work received a 3-year sentence, while the consultant of the same company was sentenced to 1 year in prison. However, the prison sentence for the building owner was suspended.
The primary accused company responsible for the maintenance work was fined QR500,000, while the building owner was fined QR20,000.
Furthermore, expatriates implicated in the case will face deportation from Qatar after serving their respective sentences, as emphasized in the statement.
